Subject: GLORIA ESTEFAN'S CALL TO SUPPORT FREEDOM
The Ladies in White / Las Damas de Blanco is a group of ladies in Cuba who occasionally walk the streets in Havana, Cuba, marching for peace, freedom and human rights. They are the equivalent of The Ladies in Black in La Plaza de Mayo en Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The difference between them is that the ladies in Cuba are pro-freedom and democracy inside a highly repressive socialist/communist regime. Therefore, they have not received any attention from the U.S. liberal media - which has been admiring Castro's regime for half a century in spite of the ongoing crimes and violations of human rights.
Recently a black political prisoner, Orlando Zapata Tamayo,was allowed to die in jail. Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet, another black political prisoner sentenced to 25 years is the object of inhumane treatment while, Guillermo Fariñas, a black dissident, is on a hunger strike and in a very bad shape. Did the liberal U.S. media mention them?
Recently these ladies have been receiving attacks from Castro's thugs on the streets (see all the photos below the Maite press release). You can use the photos.
I hope that this time these abuses on public streets and in clear view receive the attention that it deserves.

Dear friends, family and associates,
I urge you to join in tomorrow, Thursday March 25th, and support the cause of freedom.
Most of us or our spouses and friends were born or raised in the United States because our parents fled persecution, lack of freedom and the denial of civic, human and political inalienable rights.
These Rights, that we take for granted, are the precise reason these political prisoners, hundreds of them, are unjustly imprisoned in inhumane conditions and their wives, mothers and relatives, las Damas de Blanco/ the Ladies in White have been clamoring for them. Last week they were persecuted, as they have been countless times.
Silence is a powerful Statement
This is your opportunity to show the world that you support freedom for everyone, beyond our safe environment.
The worldwide repercussions of your physical presence dressed in white walking in silence is a powerful visual statement that will go beyond tomorrow.
Your simple show of support is the ammunition that fires the work of those persons who has been working for decades in support of freedom and a sign to those in power that they need to support the opposition in the island. I can not emphasize how important it is for you to be there. Share your freedoms with those less fortunate; when we have time to party we have time to help. and support.
