Sirs,
You should be ashamed to give Hugo Chavez of Venezuela - a puppet of the totalitarian fascist tyrant Fidel Castro - the Jose Marti International Award in Havana next January 28.
It would be highly offensive, not only to the majority of the people in Venezuela who overwhelmingly abstained to vote in the recent elections clearly demonstrating their rejection of Hugo Chavez, but to the Cuban people.
No wonder the U.N. and its institutions are rapidly losing respect and credibility.

It is a real pity the lame attitude you take toward a person like Hugo Chavez, this was the same man that in 1992 tried to get to power through a coup d*Etat in Venezuela, this is the same person who is trying to impose a dictatorship in that country, and who has allied to one of the most condemned dictators in the world:
Fidel Castro. Many times condemned in the same UN Organization for its Human Rights Violations. This shows a blatant and flagrant contradiction...
So I must conclude that you people are in for money, otherwise you wouldn't grant to a man who violated his own country laws by trying a coup against the established government of Venezuela in 1992 or who has used foreign repressive forces( Cubans )against his own countrymen and women during his own regime.
Just the alliance of these two men is enough to think it twice before granting such an honor to any of the two, one a bloody dictator for the last 46 yrs.; the other copying the same tactics that allowed the first to become dictator for 46 yrs...

Hugo Chávez is going to receive the UNESCO José Martí 2005 International Award in Havana on January 28th, 2006 for his contribution to the unity and integrity of the Latin American and the Caribbean countries.
What cynicism; this is an outrage!...
Hugo Chávez, who plotted a bloody coup d'etat in Venezuela, whose regime executed a fraud in the August 15th. Referendum, 75% of the Venezuelans abstain to vote in the last election. Hugo Chávez who claimed in Mar del Plata, Argentina that the ALCA has been buried and capitalism will be buried too, doesn't deserve this award with the name of the Cuban patriot, poet, and liberator José Martí.
Chávez portrays hate, lies, division, insults, denigrates others in our continent, and to add pain to injury the award will be bestowed in Havana, Cuba, the floating jail of Fidel Castro, at the command of the longest and bloodiest dictatorship in the whole history of Latin America, a one-man one-party regime of 47 years.
I enclose a Summit Report with the Cuban minors under 18 years executed or killed by the Castro regime, which is admired and sustained by Hugo Chávez, for your record.
If there is still some humanity and respect from the UNESCO after reading this report, they should declare this award cancelled. Then, they can search for a dignified, patriotic personality in our continent, that should be worthy of this honor.
The bloody streets of Havana, the capital of the Tropical Gulag of Fidel Castro, does not deserve another offense and an act of comedy between Chávez and his mentor, the mass murderer, Fidel Castro.
